My Craft Blog!

10/02/08 Dr.Who Scarf!

I haven't updated in a while because i've been pretty busy lately and I had to order a new power cord for my laptop. But I'll make a post with all of my new ami's that I've made and recieved. I'm super excited because I've joined a Dr.Who scarf knit a long on livejournal! It started on the first but I haven't got my yarn in the mail yet. :( But as soon as it gets here I'll get started. I ordered it online at Paradise Fibers and it should arrive soon. I'd also like to say thanks to mazzmatazz who posted instructions on Who_Knits for this awesome Dr.Who scarf progress bar.

This is what my bar looks like so far-

and here's what I hope it looks like when the knit a long is over in December-

I'll be sure to make updates about it here as I go! Hopefully tomorrow I'll have more time to update with what I've been doing since my last update.

8/20/08 Bluebird of Happiness and mini swap-bot review
I finished a little birdie ami and I'm going to send it to one of my swap-bot swap partners who is nice enough to do a private swap with me to help me get ratings so I can do more swaps. I really like swap-bot.com but it really can be kind of annoying to get started. On the other hand I can understand why some swaps have certain rating requirements, it's pretty crappy when you send something out to a swap partner and don't get anything in return. The good things is all you really have to do is ask and you can find someone to help you get started (like me) there are also some swaps classified as 'newbie' swaps which are also good for getting started. Anywho here's the little bluebird I made.

I used this pattern. One of the groups I'm in is actually doing it as a CAL. You can find them here. It's a really fun group and I suggest checking them out. :) Well since classes have started and I have swaps I haven't finished I better do some homework and crocheting!

8/17/08 Pumpkin ami!
I made a cute little amigurumi pumpkin today! I had a little trouble with a couple of things but first, here he is!

It was a little tough getting the yarn through the top and back down to the bottom to give him that cute little pumpkin shape. I had to redo the nose because it looked kind of funny the first time, but I'm very happy with him now! I hope that Debbie, my swap partner, will love him and give him a good home. :)

8/15/08 Postcard Swap
Tonight I finished a postcard for a swap I'm doing on swap-bot.com. It's my first swap on the site, and fortunately someone was nice enough to swap with me even though I'm a noob. It gives me a chance to get a rating. Once I do I'm going to start a swap of my own. I thinking it will be an interesting/unique greeting card trade. I have a lot of interesting cards that I could swap, and I have multiples of some of them so it would be a good way to add more variety to my own collection. More on that later when I've set it up. Here's the postcard I made for the swap. I used images from one of my old projects called The Colfax Project (I know super creative).

You can check out more of The Colfax Project in my photo section. (I'll be adding other projects to that section soon).
Well that's all for now. I'll have a progress update tomorrow about some crochet projects.

8/13/08 Meet Takochan
I've decided that for the moment my site will primarily be used as a craft blog. I'll eventually get the store up and running again, but I can't guarantee that it'll be anytime soon. I'll probably also add a page for Ross and I's wedding sometime soon. Anywho on to the bloggage.

Takochan!

This little guy was my first attempt at amigurumi. I got a newlsetter from Lion Brand Yarn that had some free amigurumi patterns that were just waaay to cute so I figured I'd give it a try Even though I haven't crocheted in ages. So I decided to make this little guy for Ross, and now I am of course totally addicted! I'm working on one of the little forest spirits from the movie Princess Mononoke. After I finish this one I'm going to make another one and write up a patter for it. Once I get my Etsy store set up I'll add info about it and links to new items.
